Businessman Tim James Outlines Aggressive Tax Cuts Plan For Alabama’s Working Families

On Wednesday, March 16, Tim James held a press conference at 10:00 a.m. in the Governor’s Boardroom at the Embassy Suites in Montgomery.

He outlined his tax plan and economic vision for Alabama. James called on Governor Ivey and the Legislature to stop their frivolous spending plan for the Alabama state budget’s $1.5 Billion surplus and return that money to the taxpayers in the form of tax cuts.

Tim specifically outlined a suggested plan to include the following: 1) Repealing Gov. Ivey’s forever-increasing Gas Tax, 2) Eliminating the State Sales Tax on essential groceries, 3) Eliminating the Business Privilege Tax, and 4) Slashing Occupational Licensing fees. “Alabama’s state government doesn’t have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem,” said Tim James. “The governor is sitting on a $1.5 Billion surplus, and the only thing our working families are getting for it are frivolous spending, higher gas taxes, and raises for legislators.”

The Message: Ben Franklin said, "There are only two things certain in life: death and taxes." Now, thanks to Kay Ivey, there's a third… Death, taxes and Kay Ivey's gas tax increase that goes up automatically without a vote forever. Governor Ivey and the political crowd found a way to raise taxes forever… Without having to vote on them. I'm Tim James, and as governor, I'll repeal the never-ending gas tax increase because working folks need a break. It's time to fight back.

TV Ad: What Have We Done?

The Message: What have we done to our little ones? Shutdowns and masking have caused untold damage to our children. They've fallen behind. We're starting to see mental health issues. Parents, you've been right—the whole time. Governor Ivey could have stopped this by executive order. She refused. Masks are a parents' choice. It's your decision. I'm Tim James. As Governor, I'll stop forced masking. It's time to fight back.
