On Wednesday, March 16, Tim James held a press conference at 10:00 a.m. in the Governor’s Boardroom at the Embassy Suites in Montgomery.
He outlined his tax plan and economic vision for Alabama. James called on Governor Ivey and the Legislature to stop their frivolous spending plan for the Alabama state budget’s $1.5 Billion surplus and return that money to the taxpayers in the form of tax cuts.
Tim specifically outlined a suggested plan to include the following: 1) Repealing Gov. Ivey’s forever-increasing Gas Tax, 2) Eliminating the State Sales Tax on essential groceries, 3) Eliminating the Business Privilege Tax, and 4) Slashing Occupational Licensing fees. “Alabama’s state government doesn’t have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem,” said Tim James. “The governor is sitting on a $1.5 Billion surplus, and the only thing our working families are getting for it are frivolous spending, higher gas taxes, and raises for legislators.”
